GRIDLIFE and World Racing League have announced GRIDLIFE Thunderhill, a combined event at Thunderhill Motorsports Park in Willows, California, on April 2 to 4, 2027, that will open the 2027 GRIDLIFE National Championship and bring back the 25 Hours of Thunderhill. The endurance race last ran at Thunderhill in 2023 under NASA, whose event adopted the 25-hour format in 2003 after beginning as a 12-hour race in 1998. NASA moved its 25-hour event to Ozarks International Raceway in Missouri for 2025, while WRL will lead the revived Thunderhill race in 2027. The race is scheduled to start Saturday afternoon, run through the night, and finish 25 hours later on Sunday.
The weekend brings together six competition categories across Thunderhill’s tracks and other driving surfaces. On the GRIDLIFE side, the Eibach GRIDLIFE Touring Cup and GRIDLIFE Grand Touring wheel-to-wheel series, TrackBattle Time Attack, and GRIDLIFE Drift will all run as part of the season opener. WRL will add Grand Touring and General Production competition as part of the 25-hour endurance race. Organizers say the GRIDLIFE and WRL activities will run simultaneously across the facility rather than one program taking over after another.
The event also follows the format of GRIDLIFE’s other festival-style weekends, with on-site camping, the GRIDLIFE Arcade, automotive vendors, and other activities planned alongside the racing.
Additional schedule details, competition registration, camping information, and spectator information will be announced in the coming months. Driver registration and spectator tickets are listed as coming soon through grid.life/news, while WRL will publish rules and event-specific information for the 25 Hours of Thunderhill at racewrl.com.
