BMW M Concept Neue Klasse Debuts at 24 Hours of Le Mans

BMW M has unveiled the M Concept Neue Klasse at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, previewing the design language and drivetrain technology for the brand’s future all-electric high-performance vehicles. The concept introduces BMW M eDrive, a drive system built on the Neue Klasse’s Gen6 technology that pairs four electric motors with BMW M Dynamic Performance Control, the central control software running on a high-performance computer BMW calls the Heart of Joy. The system controls the drivetrain and braking at each individual wheel, which BMW says enables high recuperation performance, optimal traction at the limit, and direct throttle response. An 800-volt architecture and a high-voltage battery with more than 100 kWh of energy capacity support long-range capability, with the battery housing structurally integrated into both the front and rear axles.

The exterior previews several features BMW says will carry into future M production vehicles. New M Yellow Lights, yellow light icons referencing GT racing cars and the BMW M Hybrid V8, are set to become a signature of upcoming M models, while three-dimensional Track Lights appear in the outer sections of the front and rear aprons. The front apron adopts a three-part trimaran-style bumper inspired by high-speed sailing boats, which also provides structural support for the front splitter, and the rear features a floating diffuser and a ducktail spoiler. A V-shaped hood with a distinctive air outlet supports cooling for the electric drivetrain, and the concept wears a newly developed Monza Red metallic paint finish with red-and-blue center-lock wheels. Natural fiber elements appear in the front splitter, hood air outlet, diffuser, and roof graphic.

Inside, the concept features four newly developed bucket seats with natural fiber structural elements, upholstered in two-tone Bathurst Blue and Berry Red Merino leather with red five-point belts. Black nubuck leather, used for the first time in a BMW M vehicle, covers the steering wheel, door panels, and roll bar, while the floating dashboard is finished in black knit material with M-specific hexagonal backlighting. BMW has not announced production plans or timing for a series version of the concept.
