BMW Details M Performance Parts for New X5 and iX5

BMW has announced two accessory ranges for the fifth-generation X5 and the first all-electric iX5, available from the vehicles’ launch: BMW M Performance Parts covering aerodynamics and design, and a line of functional BMW accessories built around cargo and everyday use. The same catalog applies across the X5’s gasoline, plug-in hybrid, and all-electric variants.

The M Performance exterior package starts at the front with carbon fiber trims that fill the surfaces inside the illuminated frame of the redesigned Iconic Glow kidney grille, along with a three-piece carbon fiber front splitter. At the rear, a black high-gloss roof spoiler pairs with carbon fiber flow blades mounted to either side of the diffuser, while the rear diffuser itself and the exterior mirror caps are made from aramid, a fiber composite that looks and performs like carbon but allows electromagnetic signals to pass through so the mirror-mounted sensors and the automatic tailgate antenna continue to function. Wheels are offered as complete summer and winter sets from 21 to 23 inches, headlined by the 23-inch M Performance Y-spoke 1110 M Bicolor in Jet Black with gloss-milled faces. For the upcoming V8-powered M Performance X5, BMW plans an M Performance sound silencer system and carbon fiber tailpipe finishers, with BMW’s global release noting the exhaust will be offered only in markets outside Europe due to regulations.

On the functional side, the new BMW Aero roof box comes in 350-, 450-, and 550-liter sizes (12.4, 15.9, and 19.4 cubic feet), each holding 30 liters (1.1 cubic feet) more than the box it replaces with improved aerodynamics. Matching BMW Aero and Flex luggage bags are sized to fill each box efficiently, and two Flex transport box bags fit inside the 300-liter (10.6 cubic feet) BMW rear box, which mounts to a BMW rear cycle carrier. The bags are made from ballistic polyester with nubuck accents and include ergonomic handles, a padded shoulder strap, side and interior pockets, and a separate shoe bag.

Inside, the Travel & Comfort System mounted to the front seatbacks uses a standard magnetic smartphone holder, with an optional tablet holder and a tablet holder Pro that adds an additional joint for more adjustment and silver accents. A separate smartphone adapter clicks into either tablet holder and accepts phones up to 7 inches while keeping the ports accessible. Waterproof all-weather floor mats for front and rear and a waterproof luggage compartment mat round out the range. BMW has not announced U.S. pricing for the accessories.
