2027 BMW 3 Series Revealed, Priced From $49,900

BMW has revealed the eighth-generation BMW 3 Series, moving the sedan onto its Neue Klasse design language with a lineup that pairs the fully electric BMW i3 with gasoline models running 48V mild-hybrid engines. The U.S. launch lineup consists of the 2027 BMW 330 at $49,900, the 330 xDrive at $51,900, the M350 xDrive at $65,900, and the i3 50 xDrive at $61,500, all before a $1,350 destination charge, with sales for all four beginning in the first quarter of 2027. BMW previewed the M350 xDrive powertrain earlier this month ahead of the full reveal.

The M350 xDrive replaces the M340i at the top of the gasoline range with a 3.0-liter inline-six and 48V mild-hybrid system producing 437 hp and 428 lb-ft, up from 386 hp in the outgoing car, with the crankshaft-mounted starter generator contributing up to 17 hp. Standard xDrive and an eight-speed Steptronic Sport transmission deliver 0 to 60 mph in 3.9 seconds (3.6 seconds with a one-foot rollout) and a 155-mph limited top speed on sport tires. The M350 xDrive also introduces Drift Moment, a mode selected through the Central Display that sends all drive power to the rear wheels in DSC Off; it arrives during 2027 and will be added to already-delivered cars by software update. Standard chassis equipment includes Adaptive M Suspension, variable sport steering, the M Sport differential, M Sport brakes, a tower-to-front-end strut brace, a rear spoiler, and 19-inch wheels, with 20-inch wheels and sport tires optional.

The 330 and 330 xDrive use a 2.0-liter four-cylinder with a belt-driven 48V starter generator producing 255 hp and 295 lb-ft, paired with an eight-speed Steptronic for a 5.9-second 0 to 60 mph time and the same 155-mph limiter on sport tires. Gasoline models gain wider tracks and a longer wheelbase than the outgoing G20, a revised front axle and five-link rear, and standard lift-related dampers, with adaptive suspension or Adaptive M Suspension optional. Wheel and tire packages include 19- and 20-inch staggered setups with 245-section fronts and 255-section rears, plus optional 20-inch sport tires with 275-section rears. The gasoline cars measure 187.6 inches long on a 112.6-inch wheelbase, while the i3 runs 187.4 inches on a 114.1-inch wheelbase and is 0.6 inch wider and one inch taller.

The i3 50 xDrive uses sixth-generation eDrive with an electrically excited synchronous motor at the rear and an asynchronous motor at the front for a combined 463 hp and 476 lb-ft, a 4.5-second 0 to 60 mph time, and a preliminary range estimate of 446 to 468 miles based on EPA test procedures. The 800V architecture supports DC fast charging at up to 400 kW, which BMW says adds 191 to 208 miles in 10 minutes, along with 15.4-kW AC charging and bidirectional Vehicle-to-Load and Vehicle-to-Home functions. The battery uses cylindrical cells in a cell-to-pack layout with a housing that doubles as the vehicle floor, and the i3 M60 xDrive with M eDrive will follow in 2027.

Inside, every model uses BMW Panoramic iDrive with Panoramic Vision projected across the base of the windshield, a 17.9-inch Central Display angled toward the driver, an optional 3D Head-Up Display, and a new multifunction steering wheel with no conventional gauge cluster behind it. BMW Operating System X is built on the Android Open Source Project and pairs the Intelligent Personal Assistant with Amazon Alexa+ large language model integration. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a panoramic glass roof, power seats with memory, and a seven-speaker 205-watt audio system are standard, with Harman Kardon audio and Dolby Atmos standard on M Performance models. Driving Assistant Plus with BMW Symbiotic Drive is standard, and the optional Highway Assist allows hands-free driving on limited-access highways at up to 85 mph. Eleven exterior colors are offered at launch, including the new Le Castellet Blue metallic, and the M350 xDrive adds the Iconic Glow lighting package as standard and M Yellow Lights as an option.

The i3 is built at BMW Group Plant Munich, where series production began in August, and the gasoline models will be built at Plant Dingolfing starting in November 2026, with all four U.S. models reaching dealers in the first quarter of 2027.
