Black and White WRX

Scooby – a word that is being heard more and more in the sport compact world. As Subarus become more popular in all circuits in the sport compact industry, we are beginning to see a more diverse set of owners as well. Enter Lisa, the owner of this beautiful white Subaru WRX. Sporting AWD and turbocharged power, the Subaru is just a perfect platform for a plethora of aftermarket goodies and Lisa has a handful herself.

Starting with the exterior, Lisa kept it extremely clean and simple. A full C-West body kit from Japan adorns the front, rear and sides of the vehicle, while the stock headlights were replaced with JDM units sporting extremely bright HID bulbs. Some goodies from the STi were brought over to Lisa’s car as well, including STi carbon fiber corner lenses and an STi front grill. The stock hood was replaced for a lighter unit, sporting a Kaminari Reverse Scoop carbon fiber hood, matching the rear VIS carbon trunk.

Underneath the lightweight carbon hood, we reveal the engine bay that’s been enhanced with just a few toys… just a few. On the in and out is a Perrin short ram intake system flowing through a Perrin front mount intercooler and out through more Perrin goodies – up pipe, downpipe and out an HKS Carbon Ti Exhaust system. A GReddy Type-S blow off valve was welded on to relieve all the boost pressure Lisa gives her toy. The stock crank pulley was swapped out for a lighter alternative, from Perrin as well – freeing up some rotational mass. Additional fuel has been added courtesy of STi fuel injectors and a Walbro fuel pump. Tuning is being handled through a TurboXS Utec system. Little additions to the engine bay include a Blitz oil cap, radiator cap and a Perrin radiator shroud.

Black and White WRX

Getting the power to the ground has been made easier with an Exedy sport clutch and Exedy flywheel. All the shifting essentials have been tightened up with Kartboy shifter bushings and the throw has been significantly shortened with an ILP short shifter. Suspension has been enhanced just a tad as well on this Scooby, with Lisa choosing only the top performance pieces here as well. A complete TEIN Flex coilover system was installed along with an EDFC unit so she can change the dampening on the fly. Up front is a Tanabe front strut bar buckling down the chassis, and in the trunk is a Whiteline rear strut bar. Bolted onto each rotor are 18″ Gunmetal Buddy Club P1 Racing II wheels wrapped in Falken rubber. To aid the boosted AWD wonder in stopping, Lisa swapped out the stock brake lines for newer Agency Power units and replaced the worn-out stock pads for better Axxis Ultimate ones.

Electronically speaking, the Subaru is kept under monitor with all the essentials. An Autometer triple gauge pod is filled with Phantom series gauges – air to fuel ratio, oil temp and EGT. A Blitz FATT DC turbo timer ensures the turbo has a nice cool down period after long drives. Other interior goodies include a carbon fiber dash kit, MOMO carbon fiber/aluminum shift knob and matching e-brake handle. The stock shift boot was also replaced with a MOMO black leather unit. In-car electronics are also available, including a Pioneer DVHP7000 DVD player and custom 7″ widescreen. The music fills the interior of the sedan, thanks to an Alpine amp powering an Eclipse 10″ sub in the trunk.

So now we have a female-driven, AWD boosted wonder that tears up the streets. What next is tunerZine.com going to bring? Stay tuned, as Hibbs stalks more women in his neighborhood…
