The atmosphere couldn’t have been any better for the world premier red carpet event of the highly anticipated drifting documentary, Slide America. Attending the event was crowd of approximately 250 people ranging from drivers such as Drift Alliance’s own Vaughn Gitton JR, Tony Angelo, and Chris Forsberg to sponsors such as Exedy Clutch. With the theater quickly filling it was hard to spot an empty seat once the lights were dimmed and the opening scene started.
During the movie, eruptions of applause came from drivers and friends representing each of the 15 cities the documentary covered. The drifting, the interviews, and especially the music seemed to all fall together perfectly. After all the action, interviews, and excitement was over the crowd rose to their feet and offered Joey Redmond and Andy Sapp a standing ovation. The overall feeling from the night was one of amazement. Listening to the interviews from those leaving the theater, “amazing” was the most commons word used. There is no doubt that Slide America is the documentary that will revolutionize the sport of drifting in the near future.
