The VIP trend has caught on slowly in America over the recent years and those choosing to build their car with a VIP flavor are truly in a unique class of their own. Given how expensive and difficult it has become to import some of the genuine JDM VIP-style kits, not a whole lot of enthusiasts have embraced the style. Nonetheless, there are some aspiring and patient builders that have completely decked out their rides in rare imported parts with a style that is unmistakable, even to the commoner. Case in this, this Scion xB built by Chris Hamilton that has been completely outfitted with products from Japan, profiles with a menacing stance thanks to an airbag setup and rounded off with a properly setup foursome of Work Euroline DH wheels.
As we all know, the xB isn’t quite the performance go-getter, but Chris has done the best he can possibly do with what he has to work with. In the engine bay is a gorgeous collection of polished goods including an Injen short ram intake, engine cover and American Car Craft steel strut housing covers. Sun Auto’s Hyper Ground, Hyper Voltage and Hyper Gauss kit were also installed. To keep the hood safely propped are custom painted TEIN hood dampeners. It’s hard to ignore the ARC oil and radiator cap also.
But focusing on the exterior, Chris’ xB is the epitome of VIP-style. Dropped to the ground, the front and rear bumpers along with the side skirts have been swapped out for components out of Spirits Avantgarde Collection’s line. Their rear wing, fog lights and hood wing also add to the aesthetics. Matching the rear bumper and giving a slight performance boost is Spirits’ Twimble exhaust system. Adding to the VIP look is a set of power folding mirrors with a custom molded Mercedes-Benz LED turn signal and Wisesquare’s LED taillights that have been custom candy painted.

To give the whole body a nice and sleek look, several components were shaved including the OEM grill, rear wiper, hood washer nozzles and side markers. Accenting the doors are a set of chrome door handles from Toyota and Scionpro’s chrome rear gate handle. Of course all the fenders were rolled, pulled or cut to make way for an aggressive set of 18×8.5 Work Euroline DH wheels. Wrapped with 205/40/18 Nitto Neo Gen tires, the setup sports a bit of a stretched tire look to finish off the VIP style.
Inside the interior, the luxury doesn’t end. The seats and door panels were upholstered with black leather while the pillars and headliner received a custom suede treatment. Chris then went to town on a Garson catalog, ordering up their shift knob, cigarette lighter, D.A.D headrest pillows, rear table with Garson’s D.A.D. Luxury 2. And it’s so hard to miss Junction Produce’s Kiku Knot Fusa and lucky charm. In car electronics has also been spiced up making the xB a complete package thanks to Kenwood and Alpine.
With Scion’s focus on personalization and customization, enthusiasts have embraced their models with hundreds of ideas brewing in their heads. We’re a huge fan of Chris’ Scion xB and hopes that it continues to inspire the VIP-style to more enthusiasts. Variety is the spice of life, and we could do with plenty more cleanly built cars such as this one.
