Nissan has launched the LEAF NISMO in Japan, adding a performance-tuned variant to the third-generation LEAF lineup that debuted in the Japanese market in January 2026. The model is on sale now in three grades: the B5 NISMO at 6,601,100 yen (approximately $40,500), the B7 NISMO at 6,952,000 yen, and the B7 NISMO RECARO-equipped model at 7,227,000 yen. The B7 grades produce 215 hp (160 kW) and 262 lb-ft (355 Nm), while the B5 makes 174 hp (130 kW) and 254 lb-ft (345 Nm).
The NISMO chassis package includes exclusive springs, stabilizers, and select member bushings to increase suspension rigidity and sharpen steering response, along with swing valve-equipped shock absorbers shared in concept with the X-Trail NISMO to reduce initial body roll. The car rides on Michelin Pilot Sport 5 tires wrapped around lightweight 19-inch aluminum wheels manufactured by Enkei, sized 235/45R19. Three of the four drive modes carry unique NISMO tuning, with Sport mode designated as NISMO Mode, and the LEAF NISMO is the first EV in the NISMO road car lineup to feature regenerative braking control paddles with dedicated calibration. Deceleration force is reduced at Level 1 and increased at Levels 2 through 4 compared with the base model.
Exterior changes focus on aerodynamics, with front corner finishers that guide airflow along the sides of the vehicle, lower door finishers, and a rear bumper incorporating a boat-hull-shaped under spoiler and an extended ducktail rear spoiler. Nissan says the combined elements add downforce without increasing drag over the base LEAF. An Arterial Magma red accent color runs throughout the body, and the model is offered in six colors, including two exclusive variations of NISMO Stealth Gray.
Inside, the cabin pairs a black foundation with red accents, a TailorFit synthetic leather steering wheel with a red center marker, and NISMO-tuned Recaro sport seats with embroidered logos and a power reclining function. The Nissan LEAF NISMO is available now through Nissan dealers in Japan, with no announcement on availability for other markets.
