Mercedes-Benz is marking 140 years at the 2026 Pebble Beach Automotive Week with the Future Classics Auction House, an exhibition styled after collector car auction houses that pairs vehicle displays with collector-inspired installations. The showcase curates Mercedes-Benz, Mercedes-AMG, and Mercedes-Maybach models around the question of which current vehicles will become tomorrow’s collectibles, with featured cars including an AMG PureSpeed, an AMG G 63 Galactic Pearl, an AMG ONE, and additional vehicles demonstrating MANUFAKTUR customization.
The headline car is a Mercedes-Maybach S 680 created by LeBron James through MANUFAKTUR Made to Measure, a near-identical twin of the vehicle James built for himself. It wears a MANUFAKTUR exclusive light ivory non-metallic exterior over a blue Stormy Weather Nappa leather interior with porcelain contrast stitching, carries James’ personal emblem in place of the traditional V12 badge, and includes discreet engravings referencing Akron, Ohio, and his family. After Pebble Beach, the car will be auctioned later this year to benefit the LeBron James Family Foundation and its I PROMISE program.
The car doubles as a showcase for MANUFAKTUR, the cross-brand individualization program for top-end models covering exclusive paint finishes, interior materials, and handcrafted details including stitching, embroidery, leatherwork, and steering wheel craftsmanship. Earlier this year, Mercedes-Benz opened the first MANUFAKTUR Made to Measure Hub in the United States at Mercedes-Benz Studio Los Angeles in Beverly Hills, only the second such location worldwide after the Center of Excellence in Sindelfingen, Germany.
On the historic side, Mercedes-Benz Classic will lead the Pebble Beach Tour d’Elegance on August 13 with the one-of-one 1938 Mercedes-Benz 540K Streamliner, joined on the Tour by the new Mercedes-AMG GT SUV. The last known remaining 1905 American Mercedes, the first Mercedes manufactured in the United States, will appear at the Future Classics Auction House and at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance on Sunday, returning more than 120 years after it was built in Queens, New York, following an extensive restoration by the Mercedes-Benz Classic Center in Long Beach. Mercedes-Benz holds a record 10 Best of Show awards at the Concours, more than any other manufacturer.
