Meguiar’s will continue its six-year partnership with the Luftgekühlt air-cooled Porsche event series at Luft 12, which takes place Saturday, October 10, at Town at Trilith in Fayetteville, Georgia, about 25 minutes south of Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. The event is Luftgekühlt’s first in the Atlanta area and follows last year’s Luft 11 in Durham, North Carolina, with general admission opening at 10 AM and an opening-night party on Friday, October 9. Meguiar’s will set up by the Town Stage next to the Shipyard with its current product lineup and car care staff on hand to field questions about cleaning the range of finishes found on air-cooled Porsches, and the display will include two 911s built by Porsche restoration shop Sonderwerks.
Town at Trilith is a walkable planned community built alongside Trilith Studios, which describes itself as the largest purpose-built movie studio in North America and has hosted production on Marvel titles including Ant-Man, Captain America, Spider-Man, Black Panther, and Avengers films. Luftgekühlt will close off the town for the event and place air-cooled Porsches throughout its streets and courtyards.

Sonderwerks operates out of a 15,000-square-foot facility in Cornelius, North Carolina, with engine, transmission, paint, body, and upholstery shops under one roof, and offers repair, restoration, and performance work. The first of its two cars at Luft 12 is a Fashion Grey 1991 Porsche 911 (964) that went through a two-year nut-and-bolt restoration and was backdated to resemble a 1973 911 RSR, with a carbon fiber splitter and a hand-laid roof panel. Its 3.9-liter flat-six was dyno-tested at 375 hp and runs through a transmission with a shorter ring and pinion and a Wavetrac limited-slip differential. The car sits on 17-inch Braid BZ wheels, and the interior uses GTS Classics seats trimmed in Bordeaux red, black, and woven carbon leather. Suppliers on the build include Kinsler Fuel Injection, Link Engine Management, Öhlins, Brembo, Elephant Racing, Tarett Engineering, BBI Performance Shocks, and Pauter Machine Co.
The second car is a 1977 Porsche 911 coupe that Sonderwerks repainted from its original black to Porsche Magenta, a color Porsche listed as Karminrot and offered from 1974 to 1977. It runs a 3.0-liter big-port engine with 9.8:1 pistons and cylinders and 964 camshafts, paired with Bilstein B8 dampers, Elephant Racing torsion bars, and Eibach sway bars. The body wears RUF-style front and rear bumpers and a vintage 911 RS-style ducktail, and the interior has Recaro Pole Position seats upholstered in Pasha cloth and black leather.

Tickets for Luft 12 are available through luftgekuhlt.com, and Meguiar’s says attendees can bring their car care questions to its booth at the Town Stage.
