Genesis Magma Racing has launched the GMR Esports Series, a two-phase competition in Le Mans Ultimate run in partnership with the game’s developer, Motorsport Games, and sim racing outlet Traxion, with the winner earning a full-time seat on the GMR Esports team for the 2027 season. The series builds on the team’s existing ties to the official FIA World Endurance Championship game, which added the GMR-001 Hypercar for free in April ahead of the car’s real-world debut season.
Qualifying begins October 6 and runs for eight weeks, with one race per week on a different free-to-play circuit and every entrant locked to the GMR-001. Players can attempt each week’s race up to three times through the game’s Online Championships mode, which is normally reserved for RaceControl subscribers but is open to all registered entrants for this series at no cost, and only the best six of eight weekly results count toward the standings. The weekly rotation runs Sebring, Fuji, Monza, Bahrain, Portimão, the alternate Bahrain layout, Spa-Francorchamps, and Le Mans, with registration through Traxion’s event hub.
The fastest 20 drivers worldwide plus the top 10 drivers registered in South Korea advance to the GMR Esports Series proper in December, held on dedicated servers and livestreamed. The finals consist of three 45-minute sprint races, at Spa-Francorchamps on December 11, Interlagos on December 12, and Circuit of the Americas on December 18, followed by a two-hour endurance race at Le Mans on December 19. Each event includes what the team calls Wildcards, challenges and changing conditions built around the game’s dynamic weather.
GMR Esports launched in May with a six-driver lineup split between Europe and South Korea, led by Collin Spork of the Netherlands alongside Jesper Pedersen of Denmark and Jernej Simončič of Slovenia, with Korean drivers Hyukjin Kwon, Gyumin Kim, and Youngchan Kim and reserve driver Rokyeong Kang. The team races the GMR-001 in Le Mans Ultimate’s official special events and the Virtual Motorsport series, and Traxion reports the full prize list beyond the team seat is still to be announced.
