Conor Shanahan won Round 6 of the 2026 Formula Drift Pro Championship on Saturday, August 22 at Evergreen Speedway in Monroe, Washington, defeating Fredric Aasbo in the Final. The judges ruled in favor of Shanahan’s Red Bull / GT Radial / Enjuku Racing / JYR Toyota GT86 on the basis of fewer faults, and the win moved the Irish driver from fifth to second in the championship standings. A capacity crowd was on hand for the first Formula Drift night event at Evergreen Speedway in the 21 years the series has run the track.
Shanahan reached the Final by eliminating Branden Sorensen from the Final 4 after a One More Time battle in which both drivers recorded 100 percent proximity across all four runs, a figure awarded by the Race Data Labs UDSM telemetry system that requires staying within two feet of the opponent’s car for the duration of a run. Sorensen’s third-place finish in the Sorensen Motorsports / Quad Lock BMW moved him from fourth to third in the standings. Aasbo advanced to the Final by defeating Matt Field, who climbed from 12th to eighth in the title race, and the Norwegian’s second-place result in the Rockstar Energy Toyota GR Supra lifted him from seventh to sixth overall.
Championship points leader James Deane exited in the Top 16 after a battle with Field, transitioning late and missing Zone 3 in his O’Reilly / Pennzoil Ford Mustang RTR Spec 5-FD. Deane retained the Pro Championship lead, now reduced to five points over Shanahan at 164 to 159. Aurimas “Odi” Bakchis retired his Feal Suspension / GT Radial / Subimods Subaru BRZ from the Top 32 with engine problems and dropped from second to fifth in the standings, while Jack Shanahan over-rotated his Pulsar Turbos E82 BMW in Zone 5 during his Top 8 battle with Aasbo, finishing fifth on the night and slipping from third to fourth overall in the championship standings.
Elsewhere in the Top 32, veteran Chris Forsberg was eliminated by rookie Cole Richards in the Richards Racing Toyota GT86, and local driver Dylan Hughes collided with the borrowed BMW of Daniel Stuke after both drivers ran wide in Zone 2 and Hughes failed to transition into Zone 3. Richards finished tenth and continues to lead the 2026 Rookie standings after losing a One More Time battle to fellow rookie Cody Buchanan in the Top 16, where a broken handbrake prevented Richards from transitioning into Zone 3. Buchanan fell to Conor Shanahan in the Top 8, and his eighth-place result marks his best FD PRO finish to date.
Ford continues to lead the 2026 Formula DRIFT Auto Cup with 280 points over Toyota’s 223, while GT Radial holds the Tire Cup lead with 376 points ahead of Nitto at 280. All Round 6 results and standings are preliminary pending official confirmation from Formula Drift.
