This one of a kind Skyline R34 Sedan has received its third overhaul in staying as one of the most noticeable cars ever designed and built.
Unless you’ve been living underneath a rock the last few years, the Tjin Edition / ICE Nissan Skyline R34 Sedan shouldn’t be something completely new to your eyes. This is the third rendition that we’ve seen of the Tjin Edition / ICE Skyline (formally in its two-tone Green state, known as the Turtle Wax Skyline) and we have to agree that this is by far the cleanest and best setup of it yet. This is also the first time Tunerzine.com has got their grubby little hands on a full blown feature and we are very excited to have it part of our publication.
To start it off, the Tjin Edition / ICE Skyline R34 was completely repainted during the 2008 off season to a custom PPG Battle Ship Grey on the outside thanks to Martin Auto Color. The interior was also resprayed to match the new exterior Grey color while the Unique Fabrication roll cage remains Maroon to offset and contrast the car. Another huge change on the outside is the addition of One Lug Wheels’ unique rollers. The Skyline completes the race bred style with one-off 20×10-inch and 20×11-inch OLW-4 wheels. The centers have been color match painted while gloss black lips, black bolts and center locking nut makes everyone take a double look. These One Lug Wheels are certainly looking very interesting and we’re excited to see them out on the market and on more vehicles. Tjin Edition and the Turtle Wax / ICE team decided to wrap up these three-piece one lug wheels with Falken Tires. The front 20×10″ OLW-4 wheels are matched up to 255/35/20 Falkens, while the rear 20×11″ are matched up to 275/35/20s.
Back to the exterior, for those that haven’t kept tabs on this car the last few years, the entire body has been widened with a URAS 10-piece body kit. The front has been widened 20mm while the rear has been widened a massive 40mm to easily fit the 11-inch rear wheels. Plenty of shaving work went into the car as well, with the front and rear emblems, door handles, gas door and third brake light all gone from the car giving it a nice and smooth finish. The front bumper was also customized to accommodate the massive Bell Intercoolers front mount intercooler. Magic Touch hidden door poppers gives the team access into the cabin.
Under the hood that’s held up with custom TEIN hood struts is the coveted Nissan RB26DET 2.6l turbocharged motor. Freshly rebuilt, the RB26 has been balanced and blue printed and custom port and polished heads. NISMO gaskets replace virtually every gasket on the powertrain while a NISMO water pump and custom catch cans complement the engine. A custom fuel injection system fully equipped with 1000cc injectors supplies the fuel that’s needed for the massive GT42R turbo from Garrett. BDL Industries played a big role with a custom 100mm throttle body and cam gears. On the exhaust side is a Unique Fabrication turbo manifold that leads out to an ID Tuning 4-inch downpipe and through a custom 4-inch cat-back exhaust from Magnaflow. On the intake side the masterminds at Unique Fabrication came up with a custom intake manifold. For cooling along with the massive Bell Intercoolers front mount intercooler is Vibrant 4-inch intercooler piping and PWR radiator. A TiAL blow off valve and wastegate handles the rest of the turbo kit accessories. The engine bay has been overhauled with powdercoated black intercooler piping, turbo and engine accessories. The Skyline GT-R valve cover has been color matched as well as the one-off strut bar. Last but not least, this RB26DET fires up beautifully thanks to a custom FAST engine management stand alone system.
Crawling into the fully gutted interior, the first thing anyone notices are the new GlowShift Gauges 7-color gray gauges displaying boost, water temperature and oil pressure nice and accurately. Status Racing / Tjin Edition carbon fiber racing seats are up front thanks to custom Unique Fabrication seat mounts. Unique Fabrication is also responsible for the custom 12-point chromoly roll cage, pedal and brake setup and D2 Racing air jacks setup. An ID-Tuning steering wheel adapter bolts on the limited edition Advan steering wheel. More fabrication work can be seen on the inside with all custom metal center console, door panels, air bag cover, rear deck and lid. A plethora of Ignited Performance toggle switches and windows switches powers everything up. Lastly, additional power is available through a custom NX setup and a NISMO GT-R gauge cluster replaces the mundane GT-S cluster that originally came with the car.
Originally automatic, the Tjin Edition / Turtle Wax ICE team has converted this Skyline sedan into a RB26 6-speed transmission fully equipped with an ACT clutch.
Suspension wise this Skyline is built and ready to handle, true to its moniker. Function and Form Type II fully adjustable coilovers came into play offering 32 different levels of dampening. ID-Tuning control arms were also custom fabricated for the suspension. Behind the massive 20-inch One Lug Wheels are custom brakes from Stop Tech. Up front are massive 6-piston calipers, while 4-piston calipers can be found in the rear.
