InspiRation

The Type-R has always been a personal favorite of ours. With its balanced suspension and high revv’ing engine paired with the rarity of the model itself, every time we spot one we hope it has a few surprises. This Type-R was brought over to Brad & Howard at RLZ for a complete overhaul on the motor. Combine that with the genuine JDM front end and the Rota Circuit 10 wheels and we’ve got a complete package and how a Type-R can be made better.

The B18C5 motor received a refreshed finish with plenty of RLZ all motor building. An AEBS closed deck 85mm bore was installed along with new cams and pistons. RLZ overhauled the head with their port and polish job and equipped it with their own custom stage 3 cams and valvetrain. On the intake side, a Mugen intake along with a JG Victor X intake manifold force feeds plenty more naturally aspirated air into the motor. An extremely high quality AN-R header leads out to a Thermal 3″ exhaust.

Fuel has been upped a notch with RC 370cc injectors and Toda goods keeps the tuning job by Jack at P1 Automotive a little simpler. Helping ensure all the power gets to the ground is a Clutchmaster Stage 3 clutch and a set of Driveshaft Shop Stage 3 axles. All the tuning is done with an AEM EMS on this high compression Type-R.

InspiRation

On the outside, the front end was replaced with the extremely clean JDM front end. The Rota Circuit 10’s contrasts the white body that’s been lowered with Omnipower Sport coilovers.

Hopefully more and more Type-R’s manage to stay on the streets, as the DC2 chassis is arguably one of the nicest ones out there. Hats off to another cleanly executed car!
