Going Gold

As most automotive tuners know the Nissan Skyline has been one of the favourite cars to tune for extreme power. However when most people think of skylines their first thoughts are GTR, however this skyline is a GTS-T and has shown up many GTR owners. You cannot argue the fact that the skyline comes with excellent performance and looks straight from the factory, so its popularity in the import scene is not particularly shocking. In the UK it’s quite easy to import a Japanese cars and the skyline is no different. This is one of the main reasons people choose to import them here. Another reason is that in the right hands it can be made into an insane drag & drift machine.

Doug’s Skyline is very different from the normal run of the mill Skyline GTS-T. A local car tuner garage originally imported the car five years ago to be used as a demo car. Four years afterwards Doug decided to buy their demo car and turn it into his own car but changing its appearance to suit his taste. Starting of with the styling the Nissan Skyline is a gorgeous car as standard but add a Do-Luck GTR kit including a light weight fiberglass boot and spoiler and a JUN Carbon bonnet and this Skyline looks amazing! Add into the mix a vented front wings, de-locked and de-handled doors and a custom vinyl graphics set. Finish off with lashings on House of Kolor Kandy Pagan Gold with Rage Spectra flash holographic flakes in the lacquer and this beast blinds you with its stunning paintjob.

Inside we have a Do-Luck rear tension set (half cage) a pair of Parco recling buckets and race harnesses to keep you strapped in and safe. Instrumentation includes indigo dials, monster tacho and shift light, and oil pressure and oil temp gauges. The Apexi power FC controller lives inside the cockpit too, to keep control of the RB25. Blitz boost controller and turbo timer. Bee- R power builder and various switches to activate the nitrous and the purge valve. The dash has also had an application of Kandy paint to brighten up the interior, as has the gear gaiter with some gold alcantara.

Going Gold

The Skyline has been tuned to push out 614BHP. The car is still road legal and it is not driven like a show car, its driven like a race car, which is quite rare to find in the UK. Doug is no stranger to Japanese performance cars, after having a Scooby. Supra’s, another skyline and numerous other cars, these cars just weren’t enough for Doug. He was looking for some serious power along with amazing looks and that’s what he got with this skyline. The previous owner did most of the engine work in his tuner garage called The-Garage, and still helps maintain the car. The car has performed very well in all the competitions it has entered. It has also entertained thousands at the drifting track and drag strip.

The engine is a work of art. Using Tomei, pistons and cams to help produce the 614bhp! The RB25 runs a GT30/40 Turbo on a high mount st/st manifold running 1.4 bar of boost. The Apexi power FC takes control of the electronic wizardry to run the engine. Other features include a Tial external wastegate and screamer pipe a monster exhaust system, which is often seen spitting, flames. A Greddy inlet manifold has the Hi Power Wet NOS System plumbed in and HKS 550cc injectors take care of the fuelling. You could go on for hours about all the features on the engine but please read the spec list for a full understanding of the beast.

The transmission is an STD Skyline GTS-T 5 spd box running an Excedy Triple plate clutch, which is perfect for drag racing but not so much fun around town!!!

The brakes are R34 GTR Brembos, which do a grand job hauling up this big car. Bilstein suspension gives the Skyline its squat stance and is soft enough for road use and helps the car squat when launching off the line. Wheels and tyres are 19″ Buddy Club P1 Racing Plus wheels custom painted with polished lips and black spokes. Running 275 Uniroyals on the front and 295 Goodyear F1’s on the rear.
