No issue of tunerZine is really complete without a nicely done turbocharged Honda. This month, Luke Munnell was fortunate enough to grab a hold of this beautifully done Black EG. With its massive GReddy front mount intercooler, it easily makes us aware that this is one Civic ready to roll. Popping the hood only releases all its glory as a fully built B-Series lurks in its bay. A custom T4 turbo manifold with a GT40 turbo provides the forced induction while a series of fuel modifications from AEM keeps everything properly fed. The bottom end of the block was built utilizing a set of Darton 84mm sleeves and CP 9:1 compression pistons. The head of the motor was also reworked with a port and polished along with all new Skunk2 valve train to handle the additional power produced by Crower’s cams. Getting the power to the ground is a Clutch Masters FX300 clutch kit and Driveshaft Shop’s stage 3 axles. Tuning the car is controlling boost is a Speed Pro stand alone ECU and A’PEXi AVC-R boost controller.

Keeping the exterior rather subtle, this EG has received an overhaul in the body modifications territory by shaving its door handles and moldings. The exterior of the car was then sprayed with a custom gunmetal paint by Bodyworks. Accenting the front end of the vehicle is a Seibon front lip while Xenon side skirts and a Buddy Club rear bumper make strange bedfellows in completing the aesthetics of the car. An OEM style carbon fiber hood and Seibon carbon hatch free up some weight as the metal counterparts were tossed aside. Completing the exterior modifications is a beautiful set of 16x7-inch Advan Racing RGII wheels in bronze, wrapped with Nitto’s Neo Gen tire.

A brake conversion was done in the rear, swapping in a pair of ’93 Civic Si brakes. A Skunk2 camber kit along with a Competition Engineering traction bar ensures no power is lost when getting it to the ground. Controlling all the suspension duties is a set of TEIN Basic coilovers.
From the inside, the EG continues its consistency for beauty and simplicity while maintaining race-bred goods. Sparco harnesses drape over OEM Integra Type-R seats while a custom painted 6-point roll cage keeps driver and passenger safe. A Sparco steering wheel along with a MOMO carbon fiber e-brake handle and Skunk2 short shifter/shift knob make up the majority of interior accessories. A series of EL gauges from A’PEXi work together with Autometer’s water temp and tachometer gauges.

This is one of those prime examples of how the tradition of building Hondas will never die. Whether it be a focus on race or show, there are plenty of options for Honda enthusiasts out there to continue building their cars.
