Project Si: Skunk2 Pro-C Coilovers

With the start of the racing season in the North West getting into full swing, we were able to get our first tech article done on the Project SI. Our friends over at Skunk2 Racing were kind enough to help us overhaul the suspension by sending us a set of their Pro-C coilovers. These bad boys are 12 way adjustable and will really help with the overall ride and cornering ability of the SI. Skunk2 also sent us an extra set of 18kg springs to help bring the rear around in cornering. We meet up with Brian Krey from BK Industries to help with the install of the Skunk2 Pro-C Coilovers. The install went very smoothly with no hiccups at all. After tweaking the ride height and camber of the SI, it was time for the first event. Snake River Region SCCA event was our first tackle to really get a test for the SI with the new Skunk2 Pro-C Coilovers.

During the first day the SI tackled the track very well, minimal body roll and felt very strong in the corners. After each run we started tweaking the dampness of the coilovers going to a stiffer setting after each run. On Sunday’s event we put the stiffer springs in the rear and this really made the difference. The SI is known to have some under steer in the corners, so the stiffer springs really helped with bringing the car around the turns. Overall we are very impressed with the coilover setup from Skunk2 with the smooth ride to the stiff turning monster these coilovers are a must for anyone looking for a better handling car for the street or race situation. Also a special thanks to Josh Wolfe with jwolfeproductions.com for the awesome racing photos of the SI at the SCCA event.
