Two-time Formula Drift champion and HRC US driver Dai Yoshihara will pilot the Acura Integra Type S DE5 in the Time Attack 1 division at the 104th running of the Broadmoor Pikes Peak International Hill Climb on June 21, with Acura and Honda Racing Corporation USA targeting a new course record. The effort aims to break the front-wheel-drive record of 10:48.094, set in 2018 by Acura engineer and Pikes Peak veteran Nick Robinson in a 500-hp Acura TLX.
Developed by HRC US from the production Acura Integra Type S, the DE5 race car runs a modified version of the factory 2.0-liter K20C8 engine. Co-developed by HRC US and HRC Japan, the turbocharged four-cylinder produces in excess of 360 hp, sent through a 6-speed sequential paddle-shift transmission. To improve efficiency at altitude, the car uses a high-volume intake, a charge pipe upgrade kit and a lightweight tube-and-fin intercooler from PRL Motorsports, along with a Borla three-inch exhaust. The chassis features HRC US-developed suspension and brakes on Yokohama Advan A005 tires, and the purpose-built body shell strips out soundproofing, underbody coating and seam sealers while adding a roll cage, aerodynamic components and cooling upgrades. The DE5 competes in the top class of SRO TC America and is sold directly to racers.
Two-time U.S. Olympian and Team USA Bobsled pilot Kaysha Love will drive the official pace car, an Acura MDX Type S wearing a livery inspired by the red, white and blue of her Team USA Bobsled. Love will lead the field through the 156-turn, 12.42-mile course, with fellow Team USA bobsledder and Milano Cortina 2026 Olympian Hunter Powell, her fiancé, riding shotgun. The 2026 MDX Type S features a turbocharged V6, torque-vectoring Super Handling All-Wheel Drive, height-adjustable air suspension, performance-tuned adaptive dampers and Brembo front brake calipers.

Love transitioned from elite gymnastics and collegiate track to bobsled in 2020, became a pilot in 2023 and won the Monobob world title in 2025. At Milano Cortina 2026, she finished fifth in the Two-woman Bobsled with a total time of 3:49.71 and seventh in the women’s Monobob at 3:59.27. As an Acura athlete ambassador, she has worked with engineers at the Honda Automotive Laboratories of Ohio on bobsled performance through Acura’s partnership with USA Bobsled/Skeleton.
This marks Acura’s 16th consecutive year competing at Pikes Peak, where the brand has recorded 12 first-in-division finishes, more than 30 podiums and multiple course records. The Pikes Peak International Hill Climb is the second-oldest motorsports race in America and has run since 1916, sending drivers up the 12.42-mile, 156-turn course from a 9,390-foot start to the 14,115-foot summit.
HRC US, the North American racing arm for Honda and Acura, has launched a new business producing HRC Performance Parts for street, track and off-road use, with prototypes shown at the 2025 SEMA Show in Las Vegas. The Southern California-based operation is applying three decades of racing experience to parts covering engine, suspension and braking performance along with weight savings. Honda is also the Official Automotive Partner of Team USA, supporting the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic teams at Milano Cortina 2026 and serving as a Founding Partner of the LA28 Games.
