One Clean Dude… I mean Lude!

Before the BB6 Prelude body style was rolled off the Honda show room floor, the previous style got its fair share of the light in the tuner market. This 1996 BB2 has been revamped and brought back to life with a handful of JDM goods on the exterior and a completely rebuilt H23.

The H23A1 motor was yanked out and torn down in anticipation for its new goods. Resleeving to 88mm, the crank was polished and balanced along with new pistons and rods thrown into the block. ARP goods combine the head and the block together; where the head has received tons of Skunk2 valvetrain components and their stage 2 camshafts. The ins and outs are taken care of with an AEM cold air intake, RS*R header and APEXi N1 exhaust. Tuning has been made more of an option with an AEM fuel rail, fuel pressure regulator and AEM cam gears. Accel 370cc injectors ensures this high compression H23 is always well fed.

Mugen goodies underneath the hood can be seen as décor, as a Koyo radiator and a set of FAL flans keep things under preferred operating temperatures. ACT handles drive train duties with an Xtreme Pressure Plate and disc combo. Lastly a P13 ECU paired with an APEXi V-AFC helps keep that fuel curve as straight as possible.

On the exterior, a VIS hood takes center stage. The stock headlights were placed with JDM units, along with the bumper lights and front bumper support. A custom front lip helps set this Prelude apart from the crowd. Power Stop rotors can be seen behind the 16×7 Konig Traffix wheels that have received a flat black powder coat service. Making sure this Prelude hugs all the corners is a set of Skunk2 coilovers, KYB AGX shocks and Tanabe strut bars and braces.

It’s a shame the Prelude name isn’t even heard of anymore as Honda has discontinued the model. But it’s always nice to see that people are still out there making them as clean as ever.
