The Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution, referred to as “Evo” by most people in the tuning world, is a car that made it’s American debut about 3 or 4 years ago during the car’s 8th generation. When Mitsubishi first started selling Lancers they were a toned down version of the Evolution. It looked similar to an Evo, but it didn’t have anywhere near the amount of power you get with a stock Lancer Evolution. So fans rejoiced when the turbocharged Lancer Evo came to America. And after taking one look at this car from Kami Speed, it’s easy to see why this car is such a favorite among tuners.
Now this isn’t a stock Evo by any means. It’s got modifications on the interior, exterior, as well as under the hood. We’ll start with the outside and work our way inside. The body kit is the Varis Taikyu aero kit. There are Varis Canards, Side Diffusers, and Rear Diffusers. All those pieces are made of carbon fiber. Now the carbon fiber pieces don’t stop there. Kami Speed installed a carbon fiber hood and trunk from Varis on this Evo 8. The front and rear fenders are also from Varis.
Now another very important part of a car’s exterior is the wheels it’s rolling on. With this Evo, Kami Speed went with WORK 18×9 CR-Kais in the front and rear. The rubber is provided by Nitto tires. Of course, just because you can go fast doesn’t mean you can stop fast. Kami Speed made sure this Evolution VIII had plenty of stopping power by installing D.B.A. 4000 Series Slotted Rotors in the rear and D.B.A. 5000 Series Slotted 2 piece rotors up front. As for handling, the Evo comes equipped with front and rear strut bars from Beatrush. There is also a rear sway bar from Swift to help keep the ride just right. And our friends from Tein provided Mono-Flex Coilovers with Swift Springs to keep the car low to the ground.

Moving a little closer to the interior of this Evolution, we stop and stare at the work done under the hood. Kami Speed has done a nice job upgrading parts of the engine, while overhauling other parts and pieces. The turbo is comes from the Trust Company. It’s a TD06S L2 turbo, with a Trust Turbo Exhaust Housing. The external wastegate is also made by Trust. Kami Speed is using the 47mm Type R version. To make sure the engine gets plenty of gas, there’s are Sard 700cc injectors installed. There’s also some Beatrush products calling this Evo home. There are engine mounts, as well as intake and intercooler pipes. Now the intercooler itself comes from A.R.C. So now that you have a better idea of what makes this car go fast, let’s take a look at what makes the ride inside.
The interior is the place where the least amount of work has been done. A Pivot shift knob helps the driver get through the gears. And pedals from Mitsubishi’s own aftermarket company, Ralliart, accent the interior rather well.
Now all these parts and pieces make this one sick looking Evolution VIII. So scroll down and check out pics from Donny Mak. Because words really don’t do this car justice.
