My mom always told me, “Don’t judge a book by its cover.” I wonder if the 1996 Nissan 240SX featured below was what she meant by that? This month’s issue brings us a very “simple” looking Nissan S14. At least, it’s simple on the outside.
The first thing I noticed about this car were the 19-inch HRE 540s. The HREs are wrapped in Nitto 555 tires with Koni 5-way adjustable coilovers and H&R springs helping to keep the car’s ride low to the ground and smooth on the street. The rear of this 240 sports an Apex’i exhaust. And that’s about all the exterior modifications this Nissan has. So what is so special about this car? Well let’s just take a peek under the hood shall we?
Ah, here’s what makes this ’96 Nissan 240 stand out from the millions of stock 240SXs on the street today, an RB26DETT with an RB25 transmission. That’s right folks – twin turbo! This isn’t your average 240. While most 240 owners choose to go with the SR20 or RB20 engine, the owner of this Nissan decided to go all out. The same engine featured in the Nissan Skyline GT-R II in Japan has found a home in this car. And boy is it a tight fit. I hope for the owner’s sake that nothing ever breaks on this car.
