The drift season has begun and in true form Formula Drift lit up the Streets of Long Beach. Tons of new cars were out including Tanner Foust’s Scion tC, Rhys Millen’s Hyundai Genesis, Ryan Tuerck’s new Pontiac Solstice, Vaughn Gittin JR’s new Falken Tire 2010 Mustang, Daijiro Yoshihara’s Falken Tire / Discount Tire Lexus IS350 and more. Here is the first batch of photos from the practice session that kicked things off for 2009 on Friday. The only major incident of the day was when Tommy Suell spun out and Ueo in the Drift Speed S15 missed the yellow flag. Ueo was full sideways at a pretty high speed sliding door to door into Suell’s car. Ueo would be right back out for qualifying, but Suell was done for the day.
