Right Hand Drive Wonder

With so many different ways to build a Honda these days, it’s always refreshing for us to catch sight of something that is done clean enough but different enough to raise our eyebrows. While hatches are mostly the craze in the Honda tuning world these days, coupes still carry a body style that can’t be ignored. This right hand drive converted coupe has a bulk of subtle modifications that make it one complete package.

Starting with the engine bay, the owner swapped in a real deal Civic Type-R B16B swap. Pleased with the performance but not completely satisfied, he decided to have the head and block built in anticipation for some forced induction. Being a daily driver and wanting to keep reliability as his priority, a GReddy turbo kit was bolted onto the 1.6L along with GReddy’s intercooler. Additional fuel has been added into the system with RC’s 720cc injectors and AEM’s fuel rail. Getting the power to the ground is an Exedy lightweight flywheel and clutch combo, Integra Type-R transmission and Quaife LSD.

On the exterior, the subtle modifications to the coupe’s natural styling are just enough to attract the attention of any pure enthusiast. Civic Type-R headlights along with folding mirrors and a Mugen front lip prove that sometimes less is more. The Milano Red chassis has been accented even more with a set of 16×7 Mugen MF10 wheels in its silver finish.

Right Hand Drive Wonder

Interior wise, a bulk of Civic Type-R parts found their new home in this car as well helping complete the comforts of a right hand drive vehicle. Red Recaros along with a steering wheel, shift boot, and door panels from a Civic Type-R fills the interior with a whole lot of JDM goodness. A Mugen gauge cluster and shift knob carries the Mugen tradition from the exterior to the interior. A series of GReddy electronics almost come as an insurance policy along with the turbo kit in the form of a boost controller, boost gauge and turbo timer.

Onto the chassis and suspension, this coupe now handles like a bat out of hell thanks to a series of beefier sway bars, Koni shocks and Neuspeed springs. Omni Power also stepped into the mix with their control arms and camber kits. Finally, a touch of Mugen was brought into the suspension as well in the form of their front and rear strut bars.

A very simple yet beautiful build clearly went into this coupe. Carrying over several traditions from Japan, this turbocharged B16B wonder really makes people confused as the owner flies on by driving on the right side!
