It’s rare that we run into automotive enthusiasts past the age of 30. It’s really the truth, especially those that are involved with the sport compact side of things. David Garfinkle is hardly 30 years of age, but his FD RX-7 wouldn’t show one bit of that. Having fallen in love with the exterior styling of the FD chassis and the fact that its no longer in production, Garfinkle took the initiative to rejuvenate the exterior while keeping the classic styling priority. Subtle aesthetic modifications include 99-spec front and rear bumpers and front lip. All the emblems and antenna has received a shaved treatment while the rear taillights were custom painted. 17-inch Stern J3 wheels outfit the corners of this RX-7, while Suspension Tech springs gives it an aggressive stance to carve the corners with.
Under the hood however is where everything shines, no pun intended. The 13B received a street ported treatment, fully equipped with low compression rotors, A’PEXi seals and one hell of a fuel system. BNR provided custom one off T-61 turbos while the exhaust is handled by a Bones downpipe and a GReddy axle back exhaust.

The interior also received a mild set of modifications with various Autometer gauges and an A’PEXi Power FC to help tune the rotary powered beast. Garfinkle also enjoys some new tunes in the interior with the help of an Eclipse head unit and a full stereo courtesy of Memphis.
So who’s to say that building cars is just for kids? If you ever run across Garfinkle’s RX-7 in real life, make sure to shake this enthusiast’s hands. He’s walking proof that enthusiasts of all ages can build a bad ass street ride.
