Sometime last year, we featured the first rendition of the Tjin Edition / Turtle Wax 2007 Chevy Cobalt SS. For 2008, The Tjin Edition / Turtle Wax team has redone the Cobalt SS again and we get our grubby little hands on it before anyone else. There are a few major updates and a few minor ones, so we’ll run through the car from the inside out so you all can get an in depth look at one of their tour vehicles for 2008.
On the inside, the Tjin Edition / Turtle Wax Cobalt has teamed up with GlowShift and has added their newest 7-color white boost gauge. The Status Racing / Tjin Edition carbon fiber racing seats are still in place including the Team Tech 4 point harnesses and Unique Fabrication seat mounts. ID-Tuning’s harness bar and steering wheel adapter has been untouched and the Personal steering wheel has become a fan favorite for everyone. The suede interior as well as the painted interior trim panels are just as we left them last year.

We touched based on the in car electronics in the previous feature and not much has changed there either. The JVC-EXAD head unit is still intact, powering the Realm Audio mids and highs and a trio of 10-inch subwoofers and Realm Audio amplifiers. The custom subwoofer box has been repainted to match the new exterior color of the Cobalt.
Now digging into the engine bay, the Tjin Edition / Turtle Wax Cobalt SS has received its fair share of performance upgrades to the supercharged engine. The GM supercharger has been enhanced with GM’s stage 3 supercharger upgrade, a set of ID-Tuning headers and downpipe. All of this flows straight out of a Magnaflow full cat-back exhaust system, giving the Cobalt the rumble and tone it needs for its unsuspecting prey. It has dyno’ed at a conservative 275whp. That’s more than enough punch to wallop on those 350Zs and EVOs out there on the street!

The suspension has been overhauled for 2008 as Tjin Edition / Turtle Wax has teamed up with the folks at Function and Form as well. Their Type II fully adjustable coilovers has been bolted on, giving the Cobalt an all new stance compared to last year as well as improved handling capabilities and adjustability. One of the most noticeable features however are the all new One Lug Wheels. That’s right, your eyes do not deceive you! These wheels will be mass produced and available to the general public soon. Convert those 4 or 5 lug setups to a true race inspired look. The Tjin Edition / Turtle Wax Cobalt SS has been equipped with 19×9/19×9.5 Racing Mesh OLW-5 wheels. The centers have been changed to a matte black finish, accented with gloss black lips and gold bolts. The stylish hub adapter to convert to the one lug is well hidden by the wheel. Only thing that catches your eye is the massive gold center locking nut. We dig it! Wrapped with none other than Falken Tires rubber, these One Lug Wheels are sure to be a huge hit on our market.and remember, you saw it here first, on Tunerzine.com!
Along with the One Lug Wheels transformation, the Tjin Edition / Turtle Wax Cobalt SS received a fresh repaint with a custom PPG Beige paint job. The GM Performance lip kit and Unique Fabrication all metal rear wing is all it takes to make this Cobalt extremely stylish and eye catching. The emblems have been powdercoated a flat black while Ignited HIDs headlights and fog lights keeps the way well lit.
