Dark Angel

For two years, Jessica Alba’s stint on television produced the show Dark Angel. While we won’t get into the details of whether or not it was entertaining, one thing is for sure; Jessica Alba is a stunning beauty. When we first came across this S14, its simple yet pristine white and black theme immediately made us think of a dark angel. Not quite Jessica Alba’s curvaceous body sort of dark angel, but more of a white beauty with a hint of darkness inherit in its nature.

While S14s are no stranger to Tunerzine.com, this one is definitely one of the cleanest ones we’ve ever had the chance to showcase. Thanks to our newest contributing photographer, Sean Bradford, these pixels do a fantastic job in capturing the car’s soul. On the exterior, the S14 received a stylish makeover from the folks over at Origin Lab. A full body kit along with 20mm wider front fenders and 50mm wider rear fenders makes room for the 18×9 and 18×11 Volk Racing SF-Challenge wheels in a beautiful Noble Gold finish. These lightweight beauties are wrapped with Toyo Tires rubber, 235/40/18 in the front and 275/35/18 in the rear. As we mentioned before, the car sports a two-tone paint job with pearl white overwhelming the majority of the body, but a sectioned off top in a pearl black. A C-West carbon fiber hood sets off the rest of the front end.

Underneath the lightweight hood is where the darkness truly prowls. Gone is the stock KA and in its place is a true S14 black top SR20DET straight from Japan. The turbocharged motor has received its fair share of upgrades starting with a massive Blitz front mount intercooler, K&N air filter with Z32 mass air flow sensor, Blitz oil cooler and Blitz blow off valve. Handling fuel and boost controls are a pair of electronics from A’PEXi. As with any SR20DET swap, a clutch and flywheel change is almost a necessity. In went an ACT six puck clutch and JGY lightweight flywheel. Making each shift nice and quick is a B&M short shifter. Cooling has been taken care of with a Koyo aluminum radiator, dual Flex-a-Lite fans and a Nismo thermostat.

Cruising in style isn’t easy and even with the exterior and the engine bay complete, no vehicle can receive proper recognition without a truly aggressive stance. On all four corners are TEIN’s Drift Master coilovers fully equipped with EDFC allowing for easy in car control. Stiffening up the chassis are Cusco front and rear strut bars. Balancing off the handling is a pair of sway bars also from Cusco.

Climbing into the interior reveals that the goodness doesn’t stop there. A pair of Bride BRIX II seats can be seen with glamorous Takata four point harnesses draped over them. The Blitz moniker continues its way into the interior with a pair of gauges displaying boost and oil pressure. Attached to the driver’s eager hands is a Sparco steering wheel that is easily detached thanks to a NRG quick release steering wheel hub. AEM’s wide-band air/fuel gauge makes tuning a breeze. Additional tunes when the blow off valve just isn’t enough are provided thanks to an Eclipse navigation head unit.

A true testament to keeping things simple and clean, this S14 has its fair share of time, blood, sweat and tears invested into it. Swapping an engine is no easy task, but rebuilding an S14 to this condition is something to be proud of. We just hope we were able to do this dark angel some justice, something that the TV show was questionable in doing for the beautiful Jessica Alba.
