The Supra is still, to this date, one of the most sought after vehicles among any car enthusiast. It’s no surprise with Titan Motorsports recently going 7s with their street legal car. The 2JZ engine has proven itself to be top notch and one of the best contenders for high, reliable horsepower for not just the quarter mile but the street as well. So it goes without saying as Supras continue to get more and more rare, we always stop dead in our tracks anytime we notice one that is worth spotlighting.

One of the beauties with the Supra is how a handful of quality modifications can go a long way in affecting its performance and making it step out from the crowd of even today’s cars such as the 350Z and Evolution. Many Supra enthusiasts are known to support the BPU cause – basic performance upgrades. In fact, BPU was a term coined by a Supra enthusiast. It then evolved into APU – advanced performance upgrades. What’s the point of the education? Well, some will argue that this Supra is a BPU+++ car, while others will say that it’s an APU car. What makes it an APU? Let’s start with the SP800GT single turbo upgrade, getting rid of the stock twin turbo setup. Combine that with the typical bolt-ons of a K&N intake and an HKS Carbon Titanium exhaust with downpipe and you’re already packing quite a punch out of the 2JZ. All of this means nothing without the proper fuel formula and that’s been taken care of with a set of HKS 720cc injectors in an HKS fuel rail. Dual fuel pumps ensures everything flows efficiently. Managing the engine is a VPC/GCC combination with a modified stock ECU to raise the rev limiter. Keeping things nice and cool (not to mention safe) is a Fluidyne radiator and the ever popular and massive GReddy 3 row front mount intercooler. Lastly, a GReddy PRofec B Spec-2 boost controller gives the owner quick access to adjust boost levels to their liking.

Another argument that many Supra owners love to indulge themselves in is the performance comparisons between the automatic and manual transmissions. This Supra however has gone the route of a built Boost Logic automatic transmission, fully equipped with a Pro Torque Converter and transmissions custom built stall converter. It’s easy to say that this Supra gets every bit of horsepower onto the rear wheels.

On the outside, nothing screams and pops out on this Supra and we love it that way. European glass headlights swap out the stock units and the owner took the liberty to install HIDs for low beams. The Supra has been lowered with a set of TEIN S-Tech springs and 18-inch Volk SF Challenge wheels on each corner. Interior wise, this Supra continues to stay basic but extremely functional. A wideband gauge from FJO and an Autometer boost gauge are the necessities to monitor. Excess tunes come from an aftermarket head unit and a pair of 10-inch Diamond Audio subwoofers.

Sometimes it doesn’t take rocket science to build a nice car. In fact, many times it doesn’t take excessive and gaudy modifications to get noticed. We loved this Supra for its simplicity and its beauty while it roams the street and can easily burn the rear rubber.
