Heading out to the Southern California Euro Meet, I had anticipated a lot of potential feature cars. Prior to the event, I had touched base with Peter of Europrojektz to arrange a shoot of his A4 1.8T. When I caught sight of it at the meet, it was easily understandable that this Euro fit the template for tunerZine perfectly – a simple build, really clean and a daily driver. Watching the car roll out on the street, it made me jealous that I chose not to get the A4 merely because it was a sedan. Peter added his own touch to the A4 however, really grabbing your eyes with simple changes to the lines of the car.
Starting with the aesthetics of the car, Peter called on Kerscher for the goods. The front fascia has been altered with a Kerscher front and a Kerscher carbon fiber front lip. The stock grille was then removed for a badge less Kamei grill giving the A4 a cleaner look. A couple of goodies from the S4 was then snatched off and thrown onto Peter’s 1.8T. S4 door blades along with an S4 rear spoiler set the A4 apart from the competition. Adorning the rear window is a Rieger roof spoiler, painted to match the silver shade of the exterior.
Being part of Europrojektz is no easy task. Peter researched and decided to go with a custom set of DPE R10 wheels in a brushed aluminum finish. Mounting the polished lips on Nitto 555 Extreme tires, the 19x8 wheels found their new home on the sedan. It’s a given at this point that the A4 needed suspension work, and Peter kept it simple with Neuspeed Sport springs and Bilstein shocks. As his daily driver, this combination allows him a comfortable ride while cruising the streets of Southern California.
Popping into the driver’s seat and suddenly realizing that I wasn’t in stock leather seats, I took a look back and realized Peter had thrown in some Recaro SRD seats into his A4. Turning over the key I could hear the low rumble of the Neuspeed exhaust system as the DEFi heads-up-display turned on acting as a turbo timer as well. Next to the Pioneer AVIC-N1 head unit there was a convenient Phillips MP3 player giving Peter the versatility he needs when it comes to music. Flipping on the ECode headlights, the SPP headlight bulbs shone brightly on the street. Putting the car into first gear, I slowly disengaged the clutch and dropped my heavy foot on full throttle. Peter then informed me that the Neuspeed 1.2 chip was installed on the 1.8T, giving the car more boost and tuning the fuel and timing accordingly. Last but not least, it was easy to tell that the car had a Billet BPV, helping the car reduce the additional boost lag.
Driving around in Peter’s A4 made me reconsider that with the right parts and the right styling, a sedan can definitely be a nice daily driver. His A4 just had the right parts in the right package and the perfect set of wheels to match. The silvery shade blended in perfectly with the brushed aluminum of the wheels, with just a slight hint of carbon fiber to set it all off.
