When the Scion TC was released in 2004, it was an immediate success with the import compact tuner set. With wide aftermarket support, Toyota reliability and an affordable price tag, the TC hit the streets with a vengeance and continues to be a challenger at shows and racing events across the country.

One pristine example of a Scion project that was taken to the next level is Alex Swensen’s 2006 TC. Starting with the performance side of the build, it was decided the 2.4 liter 2AZ-FE needed to be force fed with Turbo Toyotas hot parts, a Garrett GT3076R Turbocharger, and an overnight truckload’s worth of supporting performance parts from Japan and the US. With the TC putting down just over 300 hp to the ground with its new setup, a Project Mu big brake kit was installed to slow things down up front, while Rotora rotors provided assistance in the rear. Tein SS-P coilovers were put in each corner to help keep the car in check through the twistys, while 18” Volk Racing GT-V Forged Wheels wrapped in BFGoodrich KDW T/A 225 / 40 tires were used to supply the TC with pavement contact.
With the power side of the build handled, it was time to customize the interior and exterior of the TC more than Lil’ Wayne’s grill. A House of Kolors Zenith Gold paint job, carbon fiber goods inside and out, and Recaro Seats were used to push the TC up a notch aesthetically. Also added were crazy custom headlight and fog light concoctions, and a sound system packed with Alpine, JL Audio and Infinity components.

These mods, coupled with Alex’s personal touches, have taken the Scion to a point that its Toyota Engineering parents could have never thought possible.

We think they would be proud.
